Woodside resident Wayne recently expressed his latest achievement of passing his driving test, as one of his life time goals. Well done Wayne you are a great example of what can be achieved when focussed and with a little belief in yourself. Wayne with his educational coach is now setting additional goals . Women in Rehab fighting back

The women and staff completed a four week course led by Chief instructor Alun Williams , from Total Body Defence . Every session was practical and touched on real life scenarios ,some of which were requested by the women from violent situations they had unfortunately experienced in their past. The training always began with a warm up on the pads and moved forwards into basic aspects of self defence and various scenarios . Role play also formed an important part of the training which was also very helpful for the women who had a great time . The tuition for our women was previously discussed due to their background with Alun, who came up with a tailored program that was perfect. I would highly recommend Alun for similar courses in the work place for both staff and anyone looking to develop practical protection skills . A local Newport resident called to ask Victory Outreach Uk if we could help with the removal of some trees. We said yes and realised when we arrived we had a few days work before we would finish. The men did a great job and also re concreted part of the foundations of the building in the video . Food was kindly provided by another local resident every day and everyone was pleased with the work completed . This practical community involvement forms part of our Education program called Community awareness and Citizenship . Community awareness and Citizenship

Many of our men in their past have been far from model citizens and positive examples in the community . Our aim at Victory Outreach Uk is to help provide opportunities to begin to reverse this , and give people who want to change the access to contribute positively and become more aware of their responsibilities as individuals and to understand the value of local community. Our local library needed a little TLC with its outdoor areas so a number of our men got stuck in and spent the day clearing the surrounding site area of all weeds and rubbish. The guys did a great clean up for their local community and will continue to help make a positive contribution .

Victory Outreach Uk has for many years contributed to the local communities around Wales, as part of the rehabilitation process for many of the people who come to us from troubled backgrounds. The Director of Victory Outreach Uk pictured here ,arranged with a local fly fishing club for one young man to help with the grounds work. Four hours later and one side of the lake was completed and ready for the weekend fly fishing match . We believe that in contributing something positive back into the community , a vital step is made for many to begin regaining a sense of community ownership, belonging and personal dignity .

The psychology of a champion

It was a great honour to have Alun Davies The World Champion body builder from Wales, at Victory Outreach Uk . Alun has won many national, international and the highest trophy in the world for natural steroid free competitions . Alun shared about his training but more importantly the mind set of a champion and how the qualities of body building can transfer into other areas of our lives to help make us more successful. Education at the women’s home

Our women at Victory Outreach Uk have done a great job of redecorating their education room , and are now familiarising themselves on the Apple desk tops ready to begin searching for online courses. While in residential rehab we aim to assist individuals to begin or continue in developing their education and skills.

Art Therapy

One of our residents who has since successfully graduated from Victory Outreach UK , made a request in our art program to design and produce a memorial to commemorate the sad passing of his father . This proved to be a big help due to his various learning disabilities and helped his grieving process .
